Who We Are
Founder of the Methodist Movement
Reverend John Wesley
Reverend John Wesley (1703–1791) was an Anglican clergyman, theologian, and the founder of the Methodist Movement, a powerful Christian revival that emphasized personal faith, holiness of life, disciplined living, and social responsibility. His teachings focused on spiritual renewal through prayer, Scripture, and active service to society. Wesley’s vision laid the foundation for Methodism as a movement committed to transforming lives through God’s grace, faith in Jesus Christ, and compassionate outreach.

Methodist Council of India (MCI)
Methodism came to India in 1856, and Methodist churches were established in major cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bengaluru. Over time, the Methodist witness grew strong across the nation.
In 1981, the Methodist Church in India was formally constituted as an autonomous affiliated church, maintaining its spiritual heritage while functioning independently. Today, the MCI continues to uphold Methodist doctrines, mission work, and service-oriented ministry across India.
